Proclamation
Scottish American History
and Heritage Month

Whereas: St. Andrew's Society of Baltimore desires to join other organizations and government bodies in recognizing the unique history of Scottish Americans and the contributions they have made to this Nation.

Whereas: St. Andrew's Society of Baltimore wishes to educate young people about the unique history, culture, and contributions of Scottish Americans, many having suffered and overcome great adversity in their homeland before coming to America.

Therefore: St. Andrew's Society of Baltimore, does hereby declare and proclaim that the entire month of April each year be known as "Scottish American History and Heritage Month" which will incorporate the observance of Tartan Day, April 6th, as proclaimed by Congress.

St. Andrew's Society of Baltimore   further calls upon all Scottish Americans to observe "Scottish American History and Heritage Month", urges all fellow Americans to join in celebrating the richness that Scotland's sons and daughters have contributed to our national culture.

St. Andrew's Society of Baltimore calls upon fellow organizations and societies throughout the United States, who share a similar goal of preserving Scottish heritage and traditions, to join it in this noble endeavor by proclaiming April each year as "Scottish American History and Heritage Month". The Society further solicits the support of all organizations that celebrate Scottish heritage throughout the world in this effort.

St. Andrew's Society of Baltimore calls upon elected officials to similarly recognize the special heritage of Scottish Americans and their contributions through appropriate "Scottish American History and Heritage Month" resolutions and proclamations.

St. Andrew's Society of Baltimore calls upon and supports educators at all levels to focus attention on Scottish Americans, their history and contributions to the United States, during the month of April each year as they continue to teach about the rich diversity that makes America a great Nation.
